Year End Review – 2017

I wanted to take a few minutes to wish you all a very happy holiday season and to thank you all so much for your patronage.  I know that you have many options in the seacoast area for professional dog care, and I cannot thank you enough for choosing K9 Kaos.  As we near the end of 2017, I felt it was important to share with you an overview of our business as it is today and inform you of some upcoming changes.

K9 Kaos is about to celebrate its 14-year anniversary as a business and our 6-year anniversary in our new building.  We have made many exciting improvements here and are working on plans for even more in 2018. It is always our goal to provide the very best care we can for your dogs.

As you may remember, we recently redesigned and doubled the size of our outdoor daycare area to provide more play room for the dogs, add a new yard for the Tweenies, and above all, increase safety for all the dogs. With the addition of the new Tweenies yard, we realized that we also needed to increase our nap room capacity by 20% so that all our new friends could get a nap during the day.  This year, K9 added large carports in each of the five daycare yards to provide welcome relief for the dogs and the staff from the sun and elements.  You may have noticed that we are completely revamping our retail area to bring in some incredible new pet food options as well as an outdoor and travel section for dogs and owners.

In an effort to become more environmentally friendly, K9 has also installed an artesian well to alleviate some of our reliance on the city for water, cut expenses, and still provide lots of pool time in the summer.  We have recently completed our indoor light project to convert all the indoor lights at K9 Kaos to LED to save energy.

I think it is important to talk about our exceptional staff for just a moment.  The K9 Crew has grown to a total of 25 members, 14 of which are full time.  We pride ourselves on the benefits we offer our staff. In an industry that has a very high turnover rate, the commitment to our staff has shown with an average employment rate of more than 3 years.  A couple of our staff members have been happily caring for your dogs for more than 10 years at K9 Kaos. This means that we always have a very experienced crew here to make sure that your dog is happy, healthy, and safe while in our care.

It has been years since K9 Kaos has had to introduce a price increase for daycare, and we feel it is time for us to match our prices to the excellent care we are providing for your dogs.  Beginning January 1, 2018 our new daycare rate will become $28 per day.  Package specials of $135 for a 5-day package, $260 for a 10-day package, and $500 for a 20-day package become even more valuable with increased discounts. As always, we will also offer a discount for homes with multiple dogs.

Our grooming program has grown to two full time groomers with a combined experience of over 30 years.  Our groomers stay educated and up to date on new techniques and equipment for our salon, so that we can always provide the very best for your dog.  Along with daycare, we will be increasing most of our grooming prices by approximately $5.00.  Each dog will be evaluated individually based on coat and type of cut.  Nail trims will also be increased to $12.00.

The decision to increase prices has been such a difficult one for us to make. Like everyone, our facility and staffing expenses continue to rise year after year.   We will never skimp, especially when it comes to caring for your dog.  In 2018 we will be continuing further improvements to the facilities here at K9.  We understand that you want the best for your dog and we strive to be the facility that provides the best for you every time.
